Scott Poole's Poem About Mortified Poems | Live Wire Radio

One our current podcast, you can hear Mortified producer Neil Katcher read a poem he wrote in high school. It's bad. It's angry. It's sufficiently mortifying. (Mortified is a performance series in cities around the country where people get up and read their journal entries, songs and poems from high school.)

The first time he read the poem at a Mortified event, a woman approached him and told him the the poem really spoke to her. It spoke to her because she'd also written terrible, angry poems in high school. Now Neil and that woman whose high school self fell in love with his high school self are married with a new baby. It's the best story we'd heard in a long time, so we asked house poet Scott Poole to write a poem about it. Here it is.
